Last Call - Death Invites You

Description

In conversations with those affected, professionals, and cultural workers, new impulses arise and new approaches to dying, death, and farewell are created at various locations in the old town. Telling In the storytelling café at Café Gschwend, thoughts, experiences, and feelings about the end of life are given space. In an open and appreciative atmosphere, many stories find their place – they resonate together over coffee and cake. Listening Death is not a private matter. It belongs to life, to our society, is part of families, and thus also cultural heritage. Songs about death can be heard at Denkbar and Klanghalt in the St. Mangen Church. Understanding At the Stadthaus, death is explored from a medical-scientific perspective by the Palliative Care Center at the Cantonal Hospital St. Gallen. Meeting At the Waaghaus, participants meet professionals who experience or even witness the last call in their daily work. Feeling In their piece Apocalypso, the Compagnie Buffpapier invites you to the edge of the abyss. Six protagonists confront the apocalypse and overturn death, disease, hunger, and war. With the ritual of surrender, dancer Mara Natterer and Severin Rusch explore dying with beat and movement. In the installation with sound and image, Julia Roman and Sinan Moses resonate with death. Participating The Office for Confidence by Mark Riklin invites participation. At the writing station "Naming Names," interested people record the names of people who died fleeing on fabric strips. The interactive wall "Before I die, I want to…" is a large bucket list from people for people. Drinks are provided at the coffin bar. Illustrator and comic author Lea Frei will accompany the festival Saturday with drawings, artistically capturing moods, encounters, and scenes. Discovering Last Call is by no means just an invitation for adults and elderly people. Children and their parents are also deliberately invited. A competition, a tour, children's books on the topic, and the film at the Lokremise aim to show that death concerns people of all ages.
