Description
Pierre Bernier is an ambitious man. Pierre Bernier is also — and primarily — a painter waiting for fame and the medal of honor at the Salon of painting. Pierre Bernier is enamored with Lolette, whose back he painted on a canvas that will bring him success, which will lift him very high, but also very far from Lolette, who will soon be nothing but « La Femme nue ».
This lyric drama composed between the two wars by Henry Février addresses several themes that cross all eras: desire, others' gaze, social class change, abandonment, the role of women in art and society…
Led by an exceptional cast, Guillaume Tourniaire revives a work forgotten for nearly a hundred years where the fox trot joins epic breath, in the service of drama.
"The 20th century was one of all dramas and all crossroads: the upheavals still at work today, whether we talk about aesthetic movements, everyday life practices, or (r)evolutions in society, have their roots. Many works of art testify to this and have not yet passed all the tests of posterity. We are proud and eager to unveil this unpublished production!" — Raphaël Merlin
