Kurrentschrift reading - Hands-on Workshop

Description

Do you possess old letters, diaries, or photo albums that you've long wanted to decipher? Do you often come across handwritten documents in archives that are difficult to read? Many texts in German are written in Kurrentschrift – a script that was widespread until the early 20th century but is now rarely used. Learn to read this script. The course consists of two sessions, which can be attended independently:
Introduction on September 28, 2026, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM: After a brief introduction to the history of the script and reading tips, we will practice reading Kurrentschrift with initial sample texts.
Hands-on Workshop on October 13, 2026, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Bring your own handwritten documents for a reading practice session. Experienced course instructors will support you if you encounter difficulties.
