The Macelleria d’Arte Gallery for Contemporary Art presents the project “Kunsthaus am Roten Platz,” a cultural initiative dedicated to contemporary art as well as the encounter of various artistic disciplines in the heart of the city of St. Gallen. The project is created on the occasion of the 36th cultural anniversary of Macelleria d’Arte, a historic art institution that has been promoting contemporary artists, interdisciplinary events, and international cultural exchanges since the late 1980s. To celebrate this anniversary, 70 artists from painting, sculpture, photography, installation, performance, music, and visual arts will participate in a large exhibition and creative project. The project aims to create a connection between art, architecture, and public space and to involve citizens and visitors in an immersive and dynamic experience. The famous Red Square, designed by Pipilotti Rist and Carlos Martinez as an urban “living room” in the center of St. Gallen, thus becomes the ideal stage for an event dedicated to contemporary creativity and free artistic expression. “Kunsthaus am Roten Platz” is not only an artistic celebration but also a symbol of cultural connection between artists, the audience, and the city, reaffirming the role of Macelleria d’Arte as an important cultural reference point in the art scene of Eastern Switzerland.
