Description

In the course of his artistic development, Spanish painting played a central role for Pablo Picasso. He was particularly fascinated by the works of El Greco, Diego Velázquez, and Francisco de Goya. In addition to these painters of the Baroque and early 19th century, who are so significant for art history, Pablo Picasso was also inspired by Spanish culture – especially by Flamenco and the characteristic shape of the guitar. By examining a portrait, a still life, and a work on paper, it is shown how these influences are reflected in his work.
