Description

The connection of the Laš dances (originally Valašské) with movement is evident. Janáček composed them in 1888, and sometimes they were actually danced to. Nowadays, that is rare. This may be a pity, and it raises the question of whether an enthusiastic choreographer like Marko Ivanović will let this be... The symphonic rhapsody Taras Bulba draws us into the story of the same name from Gogol's short story.
