Konstanzer Konzil

Description

Soon you will be able to admire the Panoramic Tower by architect Yadegar Asisi in Constance. Its interior walls feature large-format images depicting scenes from the Council of Constance (1414-18) and interpreting this event. The first council north of the Alps was held in Constance. Important church and secular rulers gathered to elect a new pope and prevent a schism in the church. The excursion offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of the late Middle Ages through panoramic views. Afterwards, a city tour will visit central sites of the council, such as the Münster or the council building, to bring the history of the council to life. The contemporary chronicle by Ulrich von Richental also provides insights into daily life during the council. Some walking is included in this excursion, so good physical condition is required.
