Produced by Dan Carey (Fontaines D. C., Kae Tempest, Wet Leg), FENIAN turns all expectations on their head with an incredibly broad sound palette ranging from Acid House to Trip-Hop to Dubstep and beyond, reaffirming Kneecap as absolutely authentic and extraordinarily creative artists of their generation. As masters of rave and rap theater, FENIAN represents Kneecap's most refined exploration of language and sounds to date. What began in 2017 as a DIY project with rudimentary hip-hop beats has evolved into a global movement. With FENIAN, Kneecap reclaim their creative territory and massively evolve on their own unique path, while headlines flowed and festival sound systems roared. Following their BAFTA and Sundance Award-winning self-titled biography, their critically acclaimed debut album Fine Art, a Coachella performance that changed culture and positioned Kneecap at the forefront of the solidarity movement for Palestine, a stunning performance at Glastonbury, and their rise to the most discussed rap group in the world – not to mention the protests, murals, court cases, countless front pages, relentless global media coverage, and massive shows around the globe – Kneecap has decided to do what they do best: write incredible songs that bring thousands and thousands of fans together to rock the place. More darkness. More confrontation. More fun. More energy. More solidarity. More absolute bangers. And more fuel for the relentless engine that drives this unstoppable force. For their remarkable second album, Kneecap has come out fighting. It begins with a call to defend the Irish language in «Éire go Deo», followed by «Smugglers & Scholars», which kicks the doors of the album wide open. This is an acoustic balaclava, full of threat and fearlessness. Then it moves on to the «Carnival», a middle finger to the distractions of politics, media, and police that brought Kneecap into the spotlight amid genocide, while simultaneously creating a chorus that sticks immediately in the ear. «Palestine (feat. Fawzi)» is perhaps Kneecap's most powerful track to date, a gripping and incredibly moving expression of transnational solidarity that tears apart the oppressive force of colonialism and unites those who suffer as victors in the same struggle. If anyone is crazy enough to believe that Kneecap would give in under the pressure of the British political establishment, then listen to «Liars Tale». This exuberant punk-rave track dismantles Kier Starmer's cowardly attempts to silence and suppress Kneecap's movement. Following this is the title track of the album, an instant Kneecap anthem with a hook that will raise fists in the air and shake the walls of stadium-sized raves. The urgent Acid House of «Big Bad Mo» shifts from euphoria to an unrelenting chase of beats before landing in the chaos of «Headcase», a brilliantly hectic track about imploding masculinity, addiction, and the dangers of heading down a path to nowhere. «An Ra» subverts what one might think the theme of the track is: in this case, RA actually stands for Ríocht Aontaithe (Irish for the United Kingdom). Building on the Irish heritage, Kneecap aims to break through the void of British colonialism, targeting the biting satire at British neoliberalism and its far-right and authoritarian reflexes, which manifest in toxic capitalism and imperialist oppression – all in an absolute bop. «Cold at the Top» picks up this satirical impulse and turns it inward – with an exuberant, self-ironic story about the narcissism of fame and the hedonism that inevitably comes with celebrity status. Then we find ourselves in the «Occupied 6», where we hide in the cover of darkness while the violence of the British occupation of the six counties is conjured with cinematic genius. Here, the trauma of war surfaces – an intense harshness, punctuated by the sharpness of that dark humor needed to survive. «Gael Phonics» is a lesson in the Irish language like no other, while «Cocaine Hill» lets the numbed fear of cocaine-induced insomnia rise. FENIAN ends with «Irish Goodbye», an unexpectedly tender homage to the weight of love that carries grief within it. Throughout, sirens and alarms sound, and the chorus thunders. Revolutionary and rebellious, confrontational and incredibly catchy, inevitably intelligent and brilliantly executed – FENIAN not only represents the next phase in Kneecap's development but is a remarkable album that delights as much as it surprises. The chaos of their breakthrough year is now just a memory. Yet Kneecap neither lingers in it nor merely endures. In FENIAN, they surpass themselves and reach a new peak, the mastery of which is undeniable. After closing out 2025 with two sold-out nights in front of 24,000 Fenians at Dublin's massive 3Arena and starting the year with a tour in Japan, Kneecap will play their biggest headliner show to date in Crystal Palace Park in London in 2026, as well as headline several festivals.
