No compromises - It sounds so simple: she has always wanted to play the piano, explains the Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili about the beginning of her great career. "I sat at the piano for the first time at three, played by notes at five, and at six I knew I wanted to become a musician - and I never thought of stopping." Why stop when, on the wings of the piano, she already had her first appearance as a soloist with an orchestra at six and was flying on her first European tour at ten? Born in 1987 in Batumi, Georgia, and early supported by her mother, Khatia Buniatishvili studied at the Conservatory in Tbilisi and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Her 2008 third prize at the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition in Tel Aviv and her debut at Carnegie Hall in the same year marked the start of an international career that regularly takes the pianist to the world's major orchestras, festivals, and concert halls. Despite the glamorous public life of a world star, she has preserved her spontaneity and impulsiveness - qualities that are particularly evident in her solo evenings. There, her now famous expressiveness, which is also reflected in her mimics and body language, leaves no compromises. "I act more spontaneously, let my emotions run free, and play differently every time," describes Buniatishvili her approach. The composition of her concert program is a highly individual matter for the artist. "The score is like a letter, to establish the connection between the composer and myself," she says. "In music, emotions and thoughts cannot be hidden - you cannot lie." Program:
