How does research work? On September 28, 2026, the "Kellergespräche" at the Liechtenstein Institute will continue. For the 40th anniversary of the Liechtenstein Institute, we invite you to take a behind-the-scenes look. In conversation with moderator Donath Oehri, Andreas Brunhart, an economist at the Liechtenstein Institute, provides insight into his daily work – beyond theories, models, and formulas. How does a public economist work concretely? What data does he deal with? What questions are at the center of his research? And what makes the country of Liechtenstein a particularly interesting field of investigation? Also a guest is Daniela Sele, an economist and government employee. In conversation with her, the topic of data comes into focus: What role do data-based, so-called evidence-based analyses play for research and economic policy – and what does 'evidence-based' even mean? Where are the differences and similarities between research and political practice? What expectations are there for the 'other side'? The Kellergespräche are moderated by Donath Oehri. He was head of Gamprin for 24 years and is well known with the Liechtenstein Institute. Afterwards, guests are invited to continue the discussion at the cellar bar set up especially for the anniversary. Admission is free, all interested parties are warmly invited!
