Description
"I did not plunge the country into war. The country plunged me into war." Gulistan lives with her husband Çiya in a country that antagonizes her for her language, her thinking, her entire being. Under the dictatorial regime of Saddam Hussein, they are persecuted as Kurds. When Çiya disappears, Gulistan sets out to find him. Nothing can break her will to find her beloved again, even though she is repeatedly confronted with the extent of her own powerlessness. Eventually, she meets Çiya again at a gathering in the midst of a crowd – in the dictator's uniform, as his double. Karosh Taha was on the longlist for the German Book Prize with «Gulistan».
