Description
Arushi (9) and Milena (21) grow up in an environment in India where gender-based violence is part of everyday life. Through Kalari – one of the oldest known martial arts – they learn to see their bodies as a source of strength and self-determination. The film follows their training, doubts, and the small steps they take to reclaim space and voice. Dr. Binny guides the girls and women. Religion, culture, and social background do not matter: what counts are discipline, breath, and posture, and thus they develop physical and mental strength. From martial arts exercises, routines emerge; from routines, courage – and the decision to shape the future with a self-determined life. They become symbols of a new generation that questions traditional roles and forges their own paths. (OV/d)
