The British synth-pop band Depeche Mode is one of the most successful bands in the world. During their first international success wave of the "Some Great Reward Tour," they performed in Freiburg for the first and only time in 1984. "Back then, I really wanted to go to the concert at the Freiburg Stadthalle, but unfortunately, my young age kept me from attending. 40 years later, I rediscover the songs of Martin L. Gore and colleagues and dive deep into them," says Friedemann Stert, director of the Kaiserstuhl Percussion ensemble. A whole series of new arrangements are created, which impressively combine this electronic music with the purely acoustic sounds of mallet instruments, going beyond the sound of a mere cover band. Synthesizer sounds are not entirely abandoned; their textures and insertions are redefined and adapted to each arrangement. From selected Depeche Mode classics, an exciting new sound image emerges, highlighting the quality of the songs.
