Description

A jungle full of magic Rudyard Kipling's 'Jungle Book' has been a world classic since its publication in the late 19th century. It originally tells the story of how the foundling Mowgli grows up among the animals in the Indian jungle and matures in the mirror of nature. The British choreographer Akram Khan, originally from Bangladesh, interprets the story from the perspective of today's children, who inherit a world marked by climate change. Here, Mowgli is a girl fleeing a devastating flood. Rescued by a pack of wolves, she finds herself in a deserted metropolis reclaimed by animals. The Ballet Basel is the first ensemble after the Akram Khan Company to bring this work to the stage. Visually striking and moving, it combines dance, music, and animation into a call to hear the voices of nature and rethink our future. Contributors and additional information:
