Josef Müller, Innovator of Brno Architecture after 1900

Description

Josef Müller (1870–1934) was the nephew of the prominent Brno builder Franz Pawl, with whom he began working as a designer in 1902. In 1910, his own construction company was registered. In the first decade of the 20th century, Müller realized pairs of similarly conceived apartment buildings on several occasions, each of which exhibited undeniable architectural and artistic qualities. In all cases, these were progressive buildings responding to the latest developments in Central European architecture. Müller can thus be considered one of the personalities who introduced current stylistic stimuli and innovations into the Brno environment.
