Description
Requiem, op. 45
Funeral Song, op. 13 Clara Schumann wrote in August 1866 to Johannes Brahms: "... I must tell you that I am completely filled with your Requiem, it is a very powerful piece, capturing the whole person in a way few others do. The deep seriousness, combined with all the magic of poetry, works wonderfully, moving and soothing. As you know, I can never quite put it into words, but I feel the entire rich treasure of this work deep inside, and the enthusiasm that speaks from every piece touches me deeply, so I cannot help but express it. ... Oh, if only I could hear it, what would I give for that!" The Oratorio Choir Pforzheim, the Youth Choir, and the Bach Orchestra Pforzheim, as well as Isabel Weller (soprano) and Matthias Lika (bass), perform under the direction of Heike Hastedt from the pulpit of the city church. The concert will be broadcast via video into the church space, so that the choir, soloists, and orchestra are well visible from all seats.
