Description
The Swedish author and translator Johanne Lykke Holm creates highly atmospheric worlds full of will-o'-the-wisps and mirror images. Also in her latest novel «Faces in the Mirror» (Aki Verlag 2026, translated from Swedish by Hanna Granz), which became a hit with audiences and the press in Sweden. Bernarda and Silas are theater children. At the Malmö City Theater, they watch as adults perform on stage and build a lawless, enchanted world behind the scenes. But then something happens, and twenty-five years later, Bernarda is haunted by the past, which she had tried to suppress with all her might. Johanne Lykke Holm tells of children and childish adults, of bizarre symbols and the uncanny lurking beneath the surface and breaking with our expectations.
