Joe Haider fills more than an exciting chapter in the book of jazz history. For over 60 years, he has been active as a jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. The German left its mark in Switzerland as well, having led the Swiss Jazz School in Bern from 1984 to 1995. His 2026 production is a great homage to the phenomenal American trumpeter Miles Davis. All pieces with the then-new Miles Davis Quintet from 1960 (featuring Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Toni Williams) are studied and performed in his spirit and conception! The Joe Haider Quintet is, of course, not the Miles Davis Quintet, but based on extensive experience as a jazz musician both domestically and abroad, the quartet is quite capable of executing this project successfully and very cohesively.
