The flutes of Brian Finnegan and Sarah Allen, the guitar of Ed Boyd, and the bodhrán of John Joe Kelly have defined a unique sound that not only inspired an entire generation of young musicians but also became the soundtrack of a whole decade for many folk fans. With "Flat Fish" (released in 1999), they instantly became one of the most popular and sought-after bands in the world music scene. But the secret to their success was their acclaimed live concerts. No one could resist the energy, joy of playing, and concentrated vitality of Flook. Four musicians, each a virtuoso in their own right, created a completely unique world together, an intuitive art of interplay, an almost symbiotic connection of the four instruments and characters. Their current album "Ancora" radiates this power but also reflects their curious explorations into other realms, a wealth of ideas, and a vision of how a supergroup from the 90s still delivers a stylistically defining album today, for which the word "masterpiece" is appropriate.
