Just before the release of her new book, the Franco-German author and illustrator Isabel Pin provides an exclusive insight into her biography of mathematician Benoît Mandelbrot. While she draws live, she tells about his extraordinary life journey – from his childhood in Poland, through exile as a Jewish refugee, to his groundbreaking discoveries. Inspired by patterns in nature, Mandelbrot developed a new perspective on shapes and structures. Isabel Pin is a Franco-German author, illustrator, and lecturer. She has published more than 60 books for children and adults, combining nature, history, and cultural diversity with impressive illustrations. She writes both simple, poetic texts for the youngest and complex historical stories for older readers. She has received numerous awards for her work.
