Irmgard Knef celebrates her birthday. The fictional twin sister of Hildegard Knef – wonderfully portrayed by Ulrich Michael Heissig – is Germany's longest-serving chanson cabaret artist and still performs with attitude, humor, and a good dose of Berlin schnauze. For the anniversary, she has written a new program tailored to her and once again shows that age does not protect against punchlines. Irmgard looks back on past times, comments on current madness, and generously shares her insights. Sometimes unsteady on her feet, but sharp-minded, she sings old and new songs, shares stories from her lively life, and remains true to herself. Even at 100, she doesn't hold back and draws from a wealth of experience, which she shares as readily as her sharp remarks. The audience can expect an evening of chanson, cabaret, and grand gestures, possibly with rain of red roses.
