Description

Vida Vojić invokes the spirit of Saint Hildegard through singing her medieval chants accompanied by a glass harp, gentle electronic sounds, spatial feedback, and light design. Hildegard of Bingen was a visionary Benedictine abbess and mystic from the Rhineland, living in the Holy Roman Empire in the 12th century, renowned as a composer, preacher, writer, theologian, artist, dramatist, herbalist, and scientist. At this festival, Vida Vojić will present a unique theatrical interpretation of a solo performance that includes the story of Hildegard's life and spiritual revelations. Vida Vojić is a musical and performative artist, alchemical drummer, and writer based in London and Gothenburg, focusing on connecting sound, storytelling, and subtle scenographic elements to create vibrating performances that link the immediate with the infinite and explore themes such as magic, theological frameworks, bodily memory, alternative concepts of time, and the essence of change.
Vida has showcased her work at venues such as Artists Space (New York), Siobhan Davies Studios (London), Funkhaus (Berlin), Röda Sten Konsthall (Gothenburg), and Eric Ericsonhallen (Stockholm). Her drumming and vocal solo "Timing is Divine" (2022–) has been presented over 38 times in 13 countries. She also specializes in singing Hildegard of Bingen's chants, combining them with the glass harp, gentle electronics, and spatial feedback. Under the pseudonym "vida voyage," she composes and performs ambient cowboy rock music, with recordings released by First Terrace Records, Rhythm Büro, and Cultivated Sound, among others. Her poetic text "HOLY BIRTH OF A DRUMMER – an idiot cruise thru the world of the muse" was published by TABLOID press in July 2025. Vida is currently a visiting lecturer at Wimbledon College of Arts in London and a producer for an upcoming podcast series for The Internet Archive.
