International Storytelling Festival Kolotoč Příběhů: We Open!

Description

This year's festival intro will be provided by the mixed choir Pramendík and members of the Verbarium association with a mosaic of songs and short stories. This is the first public meeting of these two groups and their repertoires. The mixed choir Pramendík consists of graduates from Gymnázium Jana Valeriána Jirsíka in České Budějovice. These former students previously sang in the school choir Mendík, and since they missed singing after finishing their studies, they established an alumni choir with conductor Olga Thámová. They have been active since 2021, performing in the Czech Republic and abroad (Norway 2023, Germany 2024, Ireland 2025). Their repertoire includes folk, spiritual, and popular songs. They also occasionally focus on Czech folklore, singing and dancing in traditional costumes. Michala Piskačová is a cultural organizer and storyteller. She is the chairperson of the Verbarium association, which became a member of the European Federation of Storytellers FEST in 2024, where Michala is a council member. In 2017, she founded the Kolotoč Příběhů festival. Every summer, she leads the storytelling workshop StoryLab. She has completed storytelling courses and workshops with several European storytellers and has performed at festivals in Warsaw, Rome, and Puebla, Mexico. Kristina Nesvedová is a book editor, author of children's books, and storyteller. She leads seminars focused on developing reading skills in preschool children. Her book Who Sleeps in the Pantry was nominated for the Golden Ribbon in the category of books for younger children. She has completed workshops and courses with both Czech and foreign storytellers, participates in organizing the International Storytelling Festival Kolotoč Příběhů, leads storytelling courses for educators, and has performed at the storytelling festival Maratón de los cuentos in Guadalajara, Spain.
