Geshe Lobsang Soepa and his brother Samgye, Tibetan monks from Gaden Jangtse Hardong Khangtsen (Gaden Monastery, India), create an artistic sand mandala. A sand mandala symbolizes in Tibetan Buddhism the impermanence of all life and the detachment from the material world. Monks scatter the detailed areas of the mandala with colorful sand in days-long, focused, and meditative work. This is how the mandala is created. You can watch the monks at work:
