Description
A musical biography by & with Sigrid Grajek
Claire Waldoff was the star on the stages of major cabarets and variety shows from 1907 to 1935 - not only in Berlin. Her songs were sung or whistled on the street, by garbage truck drivers and millionaires. "Hermann he’s called!", "Who’s throwing mud?" or "His milieu" was known to every child.
She hit the tone like no other, touching people because she simply "wanted to sing about life" - about worries and needs, joys and entanglements that life brings.
Even before the era of the "new woman" was proclaimed, she took all the freedoms that came to her mind. She was loved by all for it. She was a bundle of energy, a joker, and elicited enthusiastic laughter. Without her, the so-called "Golden Twenties" would have been much poorer...
With her songs and against the backdrop of Germany's changing history, we look back on her life. The press writes about it: "Hilariously funny, beautifully heartbreaking, and sing-along! Go see! Watch!" (Siegessäule)
