A very special highlight awaits you at the frozen Garichti lake: ice fishing like in the far north. All you need is a little patience and the right technique. An ice-cold adventure - authentic, relaxing and unforgettable. Detailed program Welcome dear mountain man. It's great that you have found your way to our Glarnerland Alpine School and thus to this beautiful mountain range. Here, between mountain and valley, there is so much to discover. Together with other mountain people and our mountain guides, we would love to take you on an adventure trip. So that you are optimally prepared for the offer, you will find all the important information here. Prerequisites You don't need any previous snowshoeing or alpine experience. You are healthy and fit enough for up to four hours of walking per day. 1st day: walking time without breaks approx. 4 hours, maximum 700 m ascent Travel to Glarus to Tödi Sport. Continue by bus to Kies. Take the cable car to the Berghotel Mettmen. After a short check-in, you set off on your first snowshoe tour through the Fryberg Kärpf, the oldest wildlife reserve in Europe. With a bit of luck, you might spot chamois, eagles or wild fowl. Back at the Berghotel Mettmen, you can enjoy a tasty snack or a piece of cake in the cozy restaurant with a view. You can enjoy your free time until dinner either in the sauna or in the outdoor area in the whirlpool. In the evening, a 4-course surprise menu awaits you, personally created by the chef of the Berghotel Mettmen. Day 2: Walking time without breaks approx. 4 hours, maximum 600 m ascent After a restful night's sleep, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast buffet at your leisure. Then get ready for a short snowshoe tour. After lunch, Hermann, a passionate angler, will take you out onto Lake Garichti and show you how to ice fish, explain it to you and then you can have a go yourself. With a bit of luck, you might catch some char and trout. Meeting point We meet at 08:00 at the starting point of the Glarnerland Alpine School at Tödi Sport, Hauptstrasse 41, Glarus. If you need or have reserved rental equipment, please be there 15 minutes earlier for the equipment handover. Arrival/ parking facilities The Alpinschule Glarnerland is only a 5-minute walk from the train station. Please note the parking concept of the city of Glarus (https://www.glarus.ch/verwaltung/bau-und-versorgung/parkraumbewirtschaftung/langzeit-und-nachtparkieren.html/6346) and only park in the white zone. These are close to the center. We recommend that you park your car at Kasernenplatz or Zaunplatz and buy your parking ticket via the ParkingPay app. Accommodation Stay at the Berghotel Mettmen +41 (0)55 644 15 15 Overnight stay in the separate annexe of the Berghotel Mettmen. - 3 double rooms with shower/WC in the room - 3 double rooms with shower/WC on the floor.
