Description
The crazy plan to let AI do all the work this time has failed. In the end, HGich. T had to do it themselves again. Luckily! "Lenovobeach," the eighth studio album by the Hamburg music collective, sounds like the tender embrace of a mother on drugs.
"Yes, Boss. Thanks for everything," it says on "Lenovobeach," and that's almost everything said. The idea to have ChatGPT do all the text and sound work this season and gradually replace the entire band with avatars was well-intentioned (keyword: work-life balance), but in the end, DJ Hundefriedhof, Tutenchamun, Dr. Geilser, Nora Hardstyle, Katze Cozy, DJ Balmi, the beautiful Maike, Fosserill, 12Fingermann, Professor Suspect, Opa16, and the rest of the cuddly gang preferred to do it themselves so that even 14 years after the release of the super hit "Hauptschuhle," the hammer still hits like twenty Buzkashi whips. Mission: completed.
"What the AI spat out sounded slick, calculated, and aesthetically overprocessed, we could have asked Maik Forster or whatever his name is," summarizes Dr. Geilser exhausted. "We haven't built a small exotic island beyond filters, self-optimization madness, and the perfectionism of the 21st century for nothing." And it should stay that way: "Lenovobeach" was produced with much love in seven magical nights in a Portuguese beach cave and attracts with life-affirming rave anthems ("Geistig am Start"), ecstatic stomp announcements ("UDO"), disturbing love ballads ("Merci Cherie"), social-critical bangers ("Saufe"), and the new summer hit "Lenovobeach," which is already running up and down in the "Pascha."
Robust and timeless like an old Lenovo, the keyboard ballad "Die schwarze Gitarre" comes in a foot-tapping Graf-Zahl style. The lyrics come from an old diary of Dr. Geilser.
The highlight of the new album is a hymn of praise to an important everyday object: the "Adapter," which not only radio stations lick their fingers over but also inspired "Die Gebrüder Brett" to a fat remix.
Tip: "Geistig am Start" hypnotizes with sweetish opera singing (Nora Hardstyle), Portuguese chants, and disturbing-melodic Pied Piper vibes from Hamelin, served on a hammer-hard Hundefriedhof-style board that is unmatched. Message: "We are the underdogs, we are the Mayday, we dance in the matrix, mentally on the start."
On keyboard and mic (including "Adapter") shines a lost son: Fosserill is back! For years, the quirky second cast of the great Vhagvam Swami was missing in Bärchiland, occasionally working as his understudy. Now, "Fossi-Bär" may step out of the shadow of the grandmaster, who is currently enjoying his maternity leave. "The ones at HGich. T always had stinky feet. But now it's better. So I'm back. And I'm totally into it," says Fosserill via ICQ. Tutenchamun is also growing into his role: "After twenty years, I can finally recite Hauptschuhle from memory," exclaims the lovable frontman. Chapeau!
The press summary so far: "Goa, neon, and a generous pinch of trash (...) HGich. T - the loose bunch of performance artists, musicians, and freaks - celebrates life, love, and maybe even art (...) and tinkers in trashy attire on the thumping keyboard of bad taste," recently cheered the Saarbrücken Zeitung. The tour is presented by laut. de & byte FM
