Description
Vienna 1938. Lola Blau, a young actress, looks forward with anticipation to her first engagement at the Landestheater Linz. With the "Anschluss" to the German Reich, this dream is abruptly shattered because Lola is Jewish. She flees to Switzerland but is soon unwelcome there as well. However, her ambition to make a career and a good dose of luck help her to cross over to the USA and to completely forget the events. But her wish comes true: she becomes a much-celebrated star! Yet she is not happy about it. After the war, she returns to her homeland and must face the truth. Georg Kreisler's musical, inspired by his own experiences, tells this story through wonderful, sharp-tongued, and melancholic songs.
