Description
Vienna 1938. Lola Blau, a young actress, looks forward with anticipation to her first engagement at the Landestheater Linz. With the "Anschluss" to the German Reich, this dream is abruptly shattered, as Lola is Jewish. She flees to Switzerland, but soon becomes unwanted there as well. However, her ambition to make a career and a large dose of luck help her to cross over to the USA and to completely forget the events. But her wish comes true: she becomes a much-celebrated star! Yet she is not happy with it. After the war, she returns to her homeland and must now face the truth unavoidably. Georg Kreisler's musical, inspired by his own experiences, tells this story in wonderful, sharp-tongued, and melancholic songs.
