Description
Vienna 1938. Lola Blau, a young actress, looks forward with anticipation to her first engagement at the Landestheater Linz. With the "Anschluss" to the German Reich, this dream is abruptly shattered, as Lola is Jewish. She flees to Switzerland, but soon finds herself unwelcome there as well. However, her ambition to succeed and a good dose of luck help her to cross over to the USA and to completely forget the events. But her wish comes true: she becomes a much-celebrated star! Yet she is not happy about it. After the war, she returns to her homeland and must face the truth inevitably. Georg Kreisler's musical, inspired by his own experiences, tells this story through wonderful, sharp-tongued, and melancholic songs.
