Description
Hermann Burger is known as one of the most important writers in Switzerland for his lyrical and narrative oeuvre. Less known, however, is that Burger also tried his hand at drama from 1970 onwards; above all in his play «Die Scheintoten», which he wrote at the end of 1987, at the height of his career, on behalf of the Schauspielhaus Zürich. It has never been performed in its entirety – Burger's early death prevented this – but it virtuously deals with all his problem constants: the cimiteric, the cigaristic, the comedy magic and even the ferraristic. The «Urbrenner» contains Burger's existential original scenes, which the still young writer borrowed from his own life. This strongly autobiographical text processes formative experiences from Burger's childhood and youth in Menziken. A sensational discovery. Hermann Burger specialist Simon Zumsteg in conversation with author Judith Keller. The text passages are read by Wanda Wylowa.
