Description
The project «Home Game» makes research away from the major centers tangible: Renowned researchers in social and human sciences are sent back to their places of origin. On November 3rd, psychologist Fred Mast will perform in Wil, where he was born and raised, providing a personal and exciting insight into his research and the questions that occupy him: What is imagination and how can it help? How does imagination relate to reality? What are the risks and dangers? In a familial atmosphere and in dialogue with the audience, he talks about his work, his career path – and explains what fascinates him about psychology. Fred Mast is a professor at the University of Bern and heads the Department of Cognitive Psychology there. He has an impressive career: after his doctorate at the University of Zurich, he researched at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and was a professor at the University of Lausanne. His specialty is human perception – that is, the question of how we see, hear, or feel our bodies. He also deals with “inner” images and imagination. The «Home Game» is a project of SAGW and the Stiftung Science et Cité. It is supported by the Ernst Göhner Foundation, the WaliDad Foundation, and the UBS Culture Foundation. The event is organized in collaboration with Hof zu Wil.
