Description
Acrobatics, dance, music, and lots of nonsense: GUGUS! temporarily throws the rules of everyday life overboard and celebrates the joy of the absurd. A dance piece inspired by Dada for everyone aged 6 and up, for children and adults, with or without children. On stage, two circus artists come together and set the space in motion with a slingshot board. They fly through the air, dance, make music, invent sounds, and transform into strange figures. "Gugus" means both "hello" and "nonsense" in Swiss German. And that's exactly what the piece is about: things that don't have to serve a purpose. About play, nonsense, and the joy of it when not everything has to make sense and everyday life takes a break. GUGUS! is inspired by Dada. The art movement emerged over a hundred years ago in Zurich. The artists broke with the rules and ideas of art at the time. They played with language, sounds, chance, and absurdity. Even in GUGUS!, functioning can take a break for a moment. It's about experimenting, marveling, and enjoying nonsense. The piece lasts 60 minutes and is performed without spoken language. GUGUS! is a co-production within the framework of the Reso – Tanznetzwerk Schweiz event fund. Supported by Pro Helvetia and the cantons.
