Gränzgängig – Folk Music on New Paths: Viertaktmotor with Matto Kämpf

Description

«Gränzgängig – Folk Music on New Paths» is a concert series that focuses on current and constantly evolving folk music and also asks the question: «What is folk music anyway and where are its boundaries?» The project is led by the ensemble Viertaktmotor in co-production with PROGR. On five dates a year, Viertaktmotor invites selected national and international artists from the current folk music scene and other genres to explore the boundaries of folk music with them. The ensemble Viertaktmotor consists of: Nayan Stalder (Hackbrett), Raphael Heggendorn (Cello), Kaspar Eggimann (Accordion), Laurin Moor (Double Bass). In a single rehearsal, music is developed together by the guests and Viertaktmotor. They experiment, improvise, reinterpret, and instrument the music before presenting it to the audience on the same evening. Each time, a unique concert experience is created, full of creative energy and a tense exchange between the artists and the audience. On the same day at 12:12 PM, there is already an insight into the musical rehearsal. Matto Kämpf, born in 1970 in Thun, lives and dies in Bern; author and joker; he was part of the spoken-word trio «Die Gebirgspoeten» and is touring with the band «Trampeltier of Love»; he tours with Rolf Hermann and their first duo program «Kazzino Kolibri» as well as the three solo programs «Heimat ist da wo du dich aufhängst», «Am Apparat» and «Posthum war ich besser»; he writes plays and radio dramas; his books are all published by the Lucerne publisher «Der gesunde Menschenversand», most recently «Im Krachenschachen»; he is Herr Schneuwly in the SRF series «Experiment Schneuwly», recently also on stage.
