Description
At the Global Science Film Festival, societal developments, art, and science come together. In 2026, the festival will take place in Bern, Zurich, and Basel. In Bern, the mLAB at the Geographical Institute of the University of Bern presents a special mini-festival edition with a short film program and subsequent discussion. On the occasion of the exhibition «Atlas der Reproduktion – Babys, Grenzen, Geopolitik» at the Kornhausforum (until 25.10.26), this year's Bernese festival edition focuses on the societal, political, and historical conditions under which reproductive decisions are made. The short films range from illegal abortions and cross-border journeys for medical care to suppressed family histories and adoption, as well as ideas of motherhood, breastfeeding, and the unequal distribution of care work. Different cinematic forms are used: fiction and dark humor, documentary, and hybrid works. Detailed program at globalsciencefilmfestival.ch
