With its “Guest Shelf,” the Baeschlin bookstore in Glarus offers regional artisans a special platform. In September, the small exhibition space is dedicated to Marie-Louise Eberhard from Mitlödi. Under the theme “Glarus Crafts in the Spotlight,” she is showcasing a diverse selection of her “diamond painting” works.
In this creative technique, countless tiny, sparkling stones are carefully placed onto a self-adhesive template. Stone by stone, this process creates colorful motifs with a very special luminosity. The work requires patience, precision, and a deep joy in creating—qualities that are evident in every single piece by Marie-Louise Eberhard.
The 61-year-old discovered this creative pursuit about two years ago. After she had to give up her career as a retail salesperson for health reasons, she sought a meaningful activity. In diamond painting, she discovered not only a new hobby but a passion that continues to bring her great joy and fulfillment to this day.
She now creates cards, bookmarks, notebooks, decorative pictures, and many other little treasures in her home. Upon request, she also designs personalized pictures. Each piece is handcrafted with great care and a lot of love.
“It makes me happy when my work can bring a smile to other people’s faces,” says Marie-Louise Eberhard. This joy motivates her to continually try out new designs and creative possibilities.
She has already had the opportunity to showcase her works at various exhibitions. She is now especially looking forward to sharing her passion with a wider audience in the canton where she lives. Throughout the month of September, these sparkling one-of-a-kind pieces can be discovered and purchased on the guest display shelf at the Baeschlin bookstore in Glarus.
