Graphic Novels about the Second World War and the Nazi terror regime have been gaining increasing attention since the 1980s – numerous publications and educational projects testify to the relevance of this medium for the culture of remembrance. Against this background, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for War Consequences Research (BIK), in cooperation with the University of Graz, the Vorarlberg Museum, the Vorarlberg Literature House, and the Learning and Memorial Site Schloss Hartheim, hosts the conference "Drawn. The Consequences of War in Graphic Novels." The aim of this interdisciplinary event is to discuss the historical foundations and the demands of conveying the Nazi era and post-war consequences through artistic formats – as well as to reflect on the limits and potentials of the graphic novel for conveying (transgenerational) war experiences.
