Description
Who doesn't know them, the most beautiful and at the same time saddest of all love stories? And who knows Bernd Lafrenz also knows that both tissues and Reclam booklets can be safely left at home. In his loving parody, Bernd Lafrenz lends "Romeo and Juliet" as one of his free-comic Shakespeare productions this very special, airy-light charm, with which he has already delighted and stormed his audience in other plays (Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, King Lear). And as in these other adaptations, the award-winning theater man Lafrenz plays the entire story of Romeo and Juliet as a highly virtuoso one-man show, in which he switches playfully and effortlessly from one character to another within seconds. But Lafrenz would not be Lafrenz if he simply retold the famous story obediently! And so the viewer first gets to know the lovable lisping Balthasar, proud owner of the Velo courier company "Internationale Kurierdienste Balthasar (since 1423)" and descendant of the namesake servant of Romeo. For eleven generations – since 1423 – the Balthasars have fulfilled Romeo's legacy: to spread the story of the two lovers throughout the land. But everything turns out very differently than Balthasar had planned, because in a magical way, Shakespeare's work with its characters suddenly comes to life.
