Description

This comedy by Kerry Renard shows how much can be achieved through solidarity! The four colleagues Sam, Paul, George, and Manuel work at the Canadian Parcel Service (CPS) in Halifax. Although dispatch manager Frank Collins is constantly putting pressure on them, the men enjoy their work. This changes only when George is threatened with dismissal because he is allegedly too old for the job. The mood within the team shifts when Sam accidentally overhears that Betty, Frank's seven-year-old daughter, suffers from a serious eye disease. An blindness can only be prevented by an urgent operation, which costs $40,000. Since Frank does not have the money, the men spontaneously decide to pool their savings. However, they are still short of $18,500. Then the men come up with an idea: why not put on a drag show to raise the missing money for Betty? Said and done! After initial difficulties, the four men secretly start rehearsing after work. Colleague George arranges the costumes from a gay friend, and Sam's mother acts as a choreographer. After several sweat-breaking rehearsals, the time finally comes: the show is sold out, and Betty's operation is now within reach. Production: Sandra Keck (stand-in)
