Description
It's time: All of Europe is united under one regime – all of Europe? No, the small Usserstri, 4.89 square kilometers in the heart of Zurich, continues to do as it pleases. The last free spot in Europe. Everything else was annexed by the republic 87 years ago and now rules with an iron fist. But since a treacherous murder, even in Usserstri, the house is not in order: Jakob Vermeulen, a high-ranking official of the republic, was shot in the back – and that on a Saturday, when one should actually be having fun. G. A. E. Papageorgiu (*1998, Leipzig), residing in Zurich, has her artistic roots in the world of comics. She studied Islamic studies and politics, traveled to Iran and Egypt – and finally landed in a bar where she still works today. Her first experiences with literary writing were gained as a songwriter for the dark wave duo "Ich Singe Du Tanzt." After the book project "Drei Geschichten am Rande der Existenz," she created "Usserstri" – her first novel, inspired by Chandler and Glauser, set in the Zurich nightlife that has shaped her life for years.
