Description
In the exhibition «Para(rt)sitic Protection Society (PPS)», artist Lena Violetta Leitner explores the artistic and societal potential of parasitic relationships based on scientific findings.
During a special exhibition tour with researcher Simone Prospero, her artistic engagement again intersects with scientific research. As a group leader at the Swiss Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape WSL, he studies plant diseases and develops methods to combat them, especially using parasitic viruses. Contrary to the common perception of parasites as harmful organisms, he and his team recognize their usefulness and potential. The exhibition provides insight into the underestimated world of parasites and connects his research practice with Lena Violetta Leitner's artistic works. The tour is moderated by curator Mia Bodenmüller.
The event is held in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape WSL.
