Freiburger Kammerchor - Arbeitsschreie

Description

Songs sung at work have been part of music since work began. Different approaches to this theme will be heard at the autumn concert of the Freiburger Kammerchor. The young Chinese composer Leyou Wang creates in his work "Arbeitsschreie", whose Freiburg premiere will be the titular crystallization point of the concert, silent motivating singing groups of people who – sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes as a fugue, sometimes as a 'song' – spur each other to excellence. Hanns Eislers "Four Pieces for Mixed Choir op. 13" illuminate society and workers in the light of the interwar period, while the works of Rzewski and Grimm focus on the primal forces of the Industrial Revolution. Worker songs from around the world will also be heard, rounding off this highly exciting concert program.
