Gottfried von der Goltz, violin & conductor Two distinguished Mozart interpreters meet in a program dedicated to the human voice and the fortepiano. The Australian soprano Siobhan Stagg will perform some of the most beautiful concert arias by Mozart, including works he wrote for his favorite student Nancy Storace. Leading from the fortepiano is Kristian Bezuidenhout. In "Non temer, amato bene," Mozart positioned the piano as an equal partner to the voice. He wrote this aria as a farewell gift for Storace and personally entered it into his catalog of works – noting "for Mlle Storace and me." In the Piano Concerto KV 488, the solo instrument takes center stage. The finale occupied Mozart longer than usual, with several drafts preceding the solution that is heard today. At 524 measures, it is the longest orchestral movement in all of Mozart's works. Additional information:
