Frau Goethe: A Character-Theater Solo about the Private Side of the Poet Laureate

Description

Everyone knows Goethe. But who was Christiane Vulpius? The love between Germany's most famous poet and a young factory worker caused outrage at the Weimar court. Yet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Christiane Vulpius defy all conventions and write their very own love story. In his character-theater solo, Michael Schwyter takes on the role of Goethe's house servant Ludwig Geist and, together with two life-sized puppet figures, brings the extraordinary couple to life. The basis of the play is the correspondence between Goethe and Christiane Vulpius, which makes their love story come alive.
