Description
In her podcast «Feuer & Brot», Alice Hasters and Maximiliane Häcke analyze political, pop-cultural, and personal topics in a relaxed atmosphere. During «Zürich liest», the two discuss Alice Hasters' new book «Anti Opfer» and why we despise vulnerability. Everywhere, people talk about victims. But increasingly, this does not refer to those who have suffered injustice. Instead, it refers to those who disturb harmony, are considered fragile, bring others down, or want to stand above them. If they didn't complain so much, it is said, we wouldn't have so many problems. Hardness towards others is increasingly seen as desirable – and while enormous demands are placed on victims, powerful alliances of patriarchal complicity are making our world worse. Alice Hasters describes a cultural shift that coincides with a rise in authoritarianism and fascism. What happens to a society where sensitivity is considered elitist? And the right of the stronger as authentic? With intellectual unrest, she opposes the spread of new hardness with the political power of connectedness. © Images: Jana Edisonga, Katja Ruge Participants and additional information: Alice Hasters, Maximiliane Häcke
