From November 13 to 15, 2026, Basel will become the must-attend event for literature enthusiasts. The BuchBasel International Literature Festival offers a diverse program including traditional readings and debates, experimental literary presentations, performances, participatory formats, as well as activities for children and literary discovery.
The central theme of 2026 is "maintain." The key question is what connects people, relationships, and societies, and what role literature can play in this regard. Literature preserves voices, opens new perspectives, and creates links between people, eras, and experiences.
The festival center is located at Volkshaus Basel. Other events will take place at various locations around the city. On the festival's final day, November 15, 2026, the Swiss Book Prize will also be awarded as part of BuchBasel.
