Description

Why does the Altdorf Samichlaus actually wear a blue robe? This question is at the center of the new children's picture book «Fadenstich and Eselmist». The Altdorf Advent story is told with loving images, humor, and a lot of warmth, showing how the Samichlaus, Schmutzli, and the donkeys Grauli and Pedro experience a special adventure together. The book is an anniversary project of Nächstenliebe Altdorf, which celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2026, and also a tribute to the unmistakable blue appearance of the Altdorf Samichlaus. It was designed by the Uri artist Heinrich Danioth, who was himself a member of Nächstenliebe Altdorf. The story was written by Sarah and Michael Schranz, illustrated by Diego Balli. It combines the unique Altdorf Samichlaus tradition with a child-friendly story about friendship, helpfulness, and the magic of the Advent season. As part of the 27th Altdorf December Days, illustrator Diego Balli and the author team Sarah and Michael Schranz take children and families on a atmospheric journey into the world of the blue Samichlaus. A special highlight is that the Altdorf Samichlaus personally visits the reading and brings a small surprise for each child. Suitable for children and families (from 5 years old).
