Experimental Screen Printing on Ceramic Surfaces

Description

From the stencil to the fired motif — clay as a printing medium. Screen printing offers a wide range of possibilities, not only on paper but also on clay. In this course, we want to explore the extensive possibilities of decorating ceramics with your own screen printing motifs. We will start with creating the printing stencils, exposing them on screen printing fabric, and then proceed to printing. We will mainly work with plate technique; if you want to print on turned ceramics, you can bring those already fired or still leather-hard, which is also possible. An experimental approach to printing and room for creative chance are explicitly encouraged. A joint lunch is included in the course fee. Course times: Fri 4-8 pm, Sat 10 am-5 pm, Sun 10 am-4 pm

General Information

The course offers the opportunity to design ceramics with your own screen printing motifs. Participants will learn how to create printing stencils and the printing process, with an emphasis on fostering creativity. The course takes place at the FABRIK for Craft, Culture & Ecology in Freiburg im Breisgau.
