Description
More than 2000 years ago, a book appeared in Rome, authored by Publius Ovidius Naso, who told even older stories: in fifteen books, he gathered both well-known and obscure myths and legends of the Greek and Roman worlds. The way he interconnected and developed them still evokes wonder: an intoxicating flight over the abysses and shallows of the human soul, a kaleidoscope of the world with all its sensory experiences, laughter, and sorrow. Ovid's Metamorphoses are woven from the red threads of fate that wrap around us humans in wakefulness and sleep, transforming again and again into new images of human and divine destiny, telling of a constant change that never ends – from stone to snake, to tree, to human, to bird, to star. The storyteller has selected his favorite transformations from more than 250 stories, blending the known with the unknown in his own words, following the model of the original. Martin Ellrodt was born in 1966 and initially worked as an actor on the independent theater scene for several years before discovering his passion for storytelling in 1987. He perceives it as the humblest form of theater, requiring no stage, props, and needing only minimal lighting. With the sheer power of spoken word, it is possible to transport the audience to another world, evoking images, scents, and sounds. He has performed with his shows and workshops on four continents in four languages, including collaborations with the Goethe-Institut and other international organizations. He works as a lecturer at German universities and in didactics centers. He is the author of books on storytelling and operates the storytelling platform www.erzaehlen.de, having told stories at festivals in Croatia, the Netherlands, Estonia, Portugal, Spain, Hong Kong, Egypt, Switzerland, Senegal, Turkey, Hungary, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Israel, Italy, Cuba, Peru, Brazil, India, Finland, Ivory Coast, and the Czech Republic...
