Six teachers. An angry father. A locked door. And a report card conference that gets completely out of control. Friday afternoon in the teachers' lounge of a municipal high school. While most have long since headed into the weekend, six teachers are still stuck between coffee cups, exams, and their very personal concerns. Not much connects them. Until an enraged father appears and demands that they discuss his son's endangered high school diploma. When the teachers refuse to talk, the father resorts to drastic measures: he locks the group in the teachers' lounge and forces them into an extremely unusual report card conference. What initially seems like a clear confrontation between a desperate father and a seemingly dutiful faculty quickly develops into a merciless reckoning. In the enclosed space, certainties waver. Old conflicts resurface, personal vanities come to light, and the bourgeois facades of the teaching staff begin to crumble. The longer the involuntary conference lasts, the more urgent the question becomes: Are these people truly entitled to decide the future of a young person? But the father must also be held accountable. How far can he go to help his son? And does his concern really justify the means he employs? In his biting comedy "Eingeschlossene Gesellschaft," Jan Weiler brings six very different teachers and a determined father together in the tightest space. With pointed dialogues, sharp insight, and a lot of dark humor, the play tells of power, responsibility, prejudices, and an education system in which not only students are tested.
